DECLARATION OF COMPLIANCE (DoC)

What is a Declaration of Compliance?

It is a legal document that confirms that products or materials intended to come into contact with food comply with EU legislation, including Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 and (EU) No 10/2011 for plastics. Without this declaration, the products cannot be legally sold in the EU.

Which products require a Declaration of Compliance?

The declaration applies to many materials, including: plastics, paper, glass, ceramics, metals, silicone, rubber, wood, laminates, adhesives and composites.

If the product – in whole or in part – comes into direct or indirect contact with food, e.g. packaging, utensils or production equipment, a valid declaration must be available.

What should the declaration contain?

Product identification (type, name, batch, etc.)
Name and address of the manufacturer or responsible company
Legislation that the product complies with
Material types and possible layering
Conditions of use (temperature, food type, contact duration)
References to analyses and migration tests
Access to technical documentation
Name, date and signature of responsible person

The declaration must always be up-to-date and can be presented upon inspection. Lack of documentation may lead to withdrawal and sanctions.
