EU approves six new substances for plastic packaging — one change requires new testing

The positive list in Plastics Regulation 10/2011 has been expanded with six new substances for PET trays, PLA packaging and polyamide films, among others. One of the substances used in thin polyamide films requires a new test method with water as the test medium — existing test results are likely no longer valid as documentation.

EU Regulation 2026/250 — technical correction to the BPA ban

The Commission has adopted a technical correction to the ban on bisphenol A and certain other bisphenols in food contact materials. The correction clarifies definitions and transitional provisions — existing Declarations of Compliance, risk assessments and technical documentation should be reviewed and updated.
